To date the Newry Africa Link has played a major part in:

Construction of a primary school in Abuja.
Construction of the major primary school in Papiri, St. Mary’s.
Construction of a hospital house in Zambia.
Now working on the construction of the secondary school at Papiri.

The Newry Africa Link is wholly independent of the Society of African Missions. It was established by and is run and monitored by lay people who are deeply concerned with issues of food, water, education and development in Africa. For the last five years SMA projects of excellence have been the sole beneficiaries of the group’s fund-raising activities. That will continue.

The group understand that while it will be impossible for them to solve the great problem of global poverty, they can make significant and meaningful contributions in specific situations, thus enriching the lives of tens of thousands of African people.

The philosophy of it being better to light a candle than to sit in the darkness applies.
